How Ranged Affects Combat Level
Ranged has a unique multiplier in the combat formula:
Ranged Contribution = 0.325 × ⌊Ranged × 1.5⌋
The 1.5× multiplier means Ranged contributes more per level than Attack or Strength individually. Every 2 Ranged levels is roughly 1 combat level.

Best Ranged Training Methods
Cannoning
No HP XPDwarf Multicannon gives only Ranged XP (no Hitpoints). Fast but expensive. Great for Slayer tasks.
Blowpipe at Sand Crabs
AFKToxic Blowpipe is fast and relatively AFK. ~60-80k XP/hr at crabs. Costs scales in ammo.
Nightmare Zone (Rapid)
High LevelUse Blowpipe or MSB(i) with absorptions. Very AFK with good XP rates: 70-100k+ XP/hr.
Chinchompas
FastestChinning at MM2 tunnels is the fastest Ranged XP in game: 400k-1M+ XP/hr. Very expensive.

Ranged is the combat skill that determines your accuracy and damage when using **projectile weapons** like bows, crossbows, and thrown weapons. It is the primary combat style for fighting at a distance.
In OSRS, Ranged is often considered the most versatile combat style, as it allows you to stay safe from many melee-based attacks while dealing consistent damage.
Uses and Key Unlocks
Ranged is essential for almost all high-level bossing and PvM content in OSRS. Key unlocks include:
- **Level 40**: Green Dragonhide (essential for F2P pures).
- **Level 61**: Rune Crossbow (the standard for mid-level ironmen).
- **Level 75**: Toxic Blowpipe and the Twisted Bow (T-Bow).

How Ranged Mechanics Work

The Evolution of Ranged
