HP Estimation Feature
Our main Combat Calculator includes an Estimate Hitpoints option. Here's how it works:
📊 The Formula
We average the XP from your combat skills (Attack, Strength, Defence, Ranged, Magic) and convert it to an estimated Hitpoints level.
🎯 When to Use
Useful when planning builds or when you don't know an account's exact HP level but have other combat stats.
⚠️ Exclusions
You can exclude Magic and/or Ranged from the estimation if those skills were trained without HP XP (e.g., alching, splashing, cannoning).
Hitpoints XP Table

How Hitpoints Affects Combat Level
Hitpoints contributes to the base portion of your combat level:
Base = 0.25 × (Defence + Hitpoints + ⌊Prayer / 2⌋)
Every 4 Hitpoints levels adds approximately 1 combat level.
💡 HP Starts at 10
Unlike other skills that start at level 1, Hitpoints starts at level 10 for new accounts. This affects combat level calculations for low-level accounts.
How Hitpoints XP is Gained
Combat XP Split
When dealing damage in combat, you receive:
- 4 XP per damage to your primary skill (Attack/Strength/Defence/Ranged/Magic)
- 1.33 XP per damage to Hitpoints
Methods That Don't Give HP XP
- Dwarf Multicannon (Ranged XP only)
- High Level Alchemy (Magic XP only)
- Splashing (Magic XP only)
- Pest Control / Soul Wars rewards (can choose skill)
What is the Hitpoints Skill?
Hitpoints (HP) is the combat skill that determines your character's **total health**. It represents the amount of damage you can sustain before dying and being sent to your respawn point.
Your Hitpoints level is synonymous with your "health points." As you level up this skill, your maximum health increases, allowing you to survive more hits from powerful monsters and opponents.
Uses and Utility
Beyond simple survival, Hitpoints is a crucial resource for many advanced combat mechanics:
- **Tanking**: Higher HP allows you to sustain more damage during boss fights.
- **Specific Gear**: The **Dharok's Set** increases your damage as your current HP decreases.
- **Food Efficiency**: Higher maximum HP makes high-healing food like Shark or Anglerfish more efficient.
- **Area Requirements**: Many high-level areas and bosses require a high HP level to survive their mechanics.
How Hitpoints Mechanics Work
You gain Hitpoints XP at a rate of **1.33 XP per 1 damage** dealt in combat (for most attack styles). This means HP naturally levels up alongside your other combat skills.
Hitpoints naturally regenerate at a rate of 1 HP every 60 seconds. This can be doubled with the **Regen Bracelet** or the **Rapid Heal Prayer**, and increased even further with the **Hitpoints Skillcape**.
The Evolution of HP
In RuneScape Classic and Early RS2, the skill was simply known as Hitpoints. In later versions of RuneScape (RS3), it was renamed to **Constitution** and the values were multiplied by 10.
Old School RuneScape has kept the original name and 1-99 scaling. It remains one of the few skills that starts at level 10, a legacy from the very first days of the game's development.
